Initial interview and examination
When you arrive at the centre, the receptionist will register your name. Please take note of the following list of things you should bring with you to the clinic.
First you will have an interview with a doctor or a nurse. During this consultation, the following issues will be addressed:
- your general health
- your decision to have an abortion
- information about the procedure
- the use of contraceptives after the abortion
- sexual health
Prior to the abortion treatment, we will have a conversation with you to agree upon the procedure. We will determine how far the pregnancy has advanced by means of an ultrasound scan. The duration of the pregnancy is usually calculated from the first day of the last menstrual bleeding. 'Days overdue' refer to the number of days that have passed since the first missed bleeding. The procedure of abortion will only be possible when you are more than ten days overdue. The decision as to whether or not the treatment will be carried out depends on the results of the ultrasound, your health and well-being. Carrying out the treatment is the doctor's final decision.
